Southern Cross Ghost Town

Southern Cross is one of the more beautiful ghost towns I have had the pleasure of visiting.  Sitting on a hill overlooking Georgetown Lake, the view from this town is spectacular.  The buildings themselves have seen some wear, but they are still standing and you almost imagine what life must have been like while they were still brand new.  This is also the home of St. Timothy's Memorial Chapel.  Unfortunately, it's only open on Sundays during the summer, so I wasn't able to go in.  The building itself still provides a lovely modern design set against the pines and the older buildings.  It's a nice juxtaposition.  I would definitely recommend putting this on your list if you are a ghost town buff. The views alone are worth the drive up.
